The Colorado Child Welfare Scholars Consortium (CCWSC), formerly the Child Welfare Stipend Program, aims to grow and support a well-educated and prepared child welfare workforce through social work education and postgraduate professional development.
The CCWSC provides scholarships to undergraduate and graduate social work students interested in pursuing a career in public child welfare in Colorado. In addition, the CCWSC contributes to the child welfare workforce through research, evaluation, and professional development opportunities for program graduates and our partners.
The CCWSC is a partnership between the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS), Colorado county departments of human services and participating schools of social work throughout our state.

Learn more and applyAlumni needed for Ripple Effects Mapping (REM) session!
The CCWSC is building on the success of previous alumni studies and hosting a Ripple Effects Mapping (REM) session for program alumni from 2020-2024 on Friday, March 7th, 2025 from 9:00 – 10:30am. We’re interested in hearing from YOU!
Ripple Effects Mapping (REM) is a participatory focus group approach that begins with group storytelling and moves into experience mapping. Participants will be asked to share how their experience as a CCWSC scholar impacted their life and child welfare career. Alumni will build on each other’s stories while a facilitator from the Butler Institute for Families at the University of Denver maps key themes from participant experiences. This process will help us capture anticipated and unanticipated outcomes of the program.
The session will be held virtually and participants will receive a gift for their participation. Register today!
